If you struggle to talk about your problems and perhaps do not feel that your emotional needs are being met, talking to an impartial person who is a good listener can often help make sense of what is happening for you. Sometimes family members are not useful in these situations and that is where counselling could be a proactive and empowering move forward for you. I use a range of person centred and Gestalt techniques to explore with you and find some answers I believe we often have but are sometimes unaware of.
Tapping into therapy is not easy, it can be a big step for some people, especially if you are feeling hurt, shame or internal conflict leading to confusion. You may notice or feel that it is impacting your life or others around you. Awareness is the first core step towards change. Through open and honest exploration, we will uncover underlying patterns, behaviours, and beliefs that may be impacting your relationships and overall well-being. Working together to create intentional steps and agreements to make any changes, with the right counsellor some enlightenment is possible.
Gestalt and parts work focuses on the present moment and how you might hold or express things in your body. These are all connected and messages to explore. You can expect that approaches will all be centred around what is comfortable and available for you. Depending on age and needs I may use play therapies in our work; like sand tray, drawing and talking or fantasy work along with other therapeutic tools to engage in emotions focused work.
I qualified with the Albany centre in July 2024 holding a Level 4 cert in Gestalt techniques. Before this I studied the person-centred approaches with LBH to Level 3 CPCAB.
I am a member of the BACP accredited to MBACP and work with adults, children, young people, couples and families.

I have a vast knowledge of the varying degrees of trauma impact, otherwise known as being ‘trauma informed’.
“Trauma results from an event, series of events, or set of circumstances that is experienced by an individual as harmful or life threatening. While unique to the individual, generally the experience of trauma can cause lasting adverse effects, limiting the ability to function and achieve mental, physical, social, emotional or spiritual well-being” (Gov.UK)
