I have over 35 years’ experience of working therapeutically with a wide range of individuals and groups, and over 20 years’ experience training counsellors and psychotherapists, including some years as Course Co-ordinator for the Foundation Degree in Counselling at Harrow College (validated by Middlesex University); additionally I was also Course Leader of the Foundation Degree in Humanistic Counselling at Metanoia.
My primary training is as a Gestalt Psychotherapist although I have a broad experience of other styles of therapy including Person-Centred and Psychodynamic approaches. Gestalt is a non-interpretative, here and now approach, working on the belief that each of us strive for wholeness and health, and that we have adopted ways of dealing with the world around us which may no longer be relevant or useful to us.
I work with individuals and groups of adults using a variety of interventions to raise awareness of blocks to emotional well-being and make positive choices about change in their lives. I have particular experience of working with people with a mental health diagnosis as well as issues around adoption, infertility and addictions.
I offer Supervision to both student and qualified counsellors/psychotherapists, and also Mentoring to practitioners seeking help with issues such as organisational dynamics, setting up in private practice, developing as a trainer and setting up and running groups.
