INFORMATION ABOUT THE COURSE
This course has been designed and delivered in partnership with Barnardo’s.
The course is administered online; the course and its materials are available to you for one year from your payment date.
The course consists of a mixture of video and audio interviews, explainer videos, documentaries and lectures, accompanied by essential and/or recommended resources.
To progress, each section must be completed and passed (80%); sections can be repeated if necessary.
You must attend one live 2 hour Zoom session in order to complete the course and receive a certificate.
Completion of the course lessons, assessments and resources (and the Zoom session), takes approximately 30 hours.
By the time of your chosen Zoom session, it is strongly recommended that you must have completed the whole course (or are nearing completion – at least 33/38 sections).
The choice of Zoom date is made at this application stage but can be changed at a later date if required.
HOW TO APPLY
There are two stages to the application process:
Step 1.
Application (including choice of Zoom date)
- for application, please have available:
- personal information (please note, the email address you use will be the one we continue to use going forward; if you have more than one email address, please make the decision now as to which email you will use for application, payment and registration)
- employment and education history
- the name and email address of your supervisor
- submit your form (30 minutes to complete, including choice of Zoom date) and verify the submission
- once your application is submitted you will receive:
- immediately on the same screen a confirmation with thanks and advice that an email requiring verification will follow
- the verification email in your Inbox (or Spam folder) – please click on this
- a second email with further thanks
- this automatically triggers a reference request to your supervisor
- we advise that out of courtesy you contact your supervisor independently as soon as possible after application (or even before) to request that they submit a reference promptly for you when asked to do so by email (and check their Spam folder), thank you
- your supervisor submits their reference form (5 minutes to complete)
- notification is sent to The Albany Centre and, if accepted, you then receive an offer of a place
Please enter your email address and your supervisor’s email address correctly otherwise your application may be delayed.
Step 2.
Payment and registration with the Albany Campus
- with the offer of a place, you are sent a link whereby you make payment to Barnardo’s and then register with The Albany Centre Campus
- the current course fee is £810.00, payment can be made using a credit or debit card (Barnardo’s does not offer instalment options)
- Please note you do not need to have a PayPal account or if you do have a PayPal account you do not need to use it.
- payment is required as soon as possible after receiving the payment link
- you then have access to the course portal and can start that day, or at a later date
- you have access to the course for one year from your payment date
- you attend a Zoom tutorial with adoption counsellors when you have completed the course (or are nearing completion – at least 33/38 sections)
