I am a professional integrative counsellor and I incorporate Psychodynamic and Gestalt therapy in my practice. I did my training at the Counselling Foundation in St Albans, and I also completed my other Diploma here, at The Albany Centre. I am also a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and I follow their ethical framework at all time. I also receive supervision to inform good practice.
I am also a qualified teacher of Psychology and Sociology and have been supporting students for the past five years, providing emotional and academic support. Before working as a counsellor, I worked as a learning mentor helping students with behavioural and learning needs. I have also worked as a secondary school teacher and I have a particular interest in working with young people as well as adults.
Previously, I worked voluntarily with Mind in Mid Herts, to facilitate an art therapy group. I always welcome creativity when working therapeutically, particularly in helping clients to express themselves when verbal communication feels difficult. When training with The Counselling Foundation at Broxbourne, I worked with adults over 18 for a range of issues such as depression, anxiety, work related stress, low self-esteem, bereavement, and separation.
I understand that sometimes taking the first step in seeking counselling can feel difficult at times. I offer a non-judgmental and a safe confidential space where we can work on what you wish to explore together. As an integrative therapist, I incorporate both Psychodynamic and Humanistic models in my work and therefore work holistically. I believe it is important to explore issues from the past and how this affects living in the present, whilst helping you to gain self-awareness of bodily responses to emotional processes.
I offer daytime and some evening sessions. My fee is £45 per session and concessions are sometimes available. I can offer sessions either face to face here at The Albany Centre, or alternatively on Zoom for online sessions.
