Level Four is an opportunity for students to explore difficulties which they encounter as Focuser and Companion. This includes occasions when their own Focusing feels blocked and times when they are Companioning and feel unsure about how to proceed.

Topics include understanding and working with the inner Critic and Focusing with symbols and images. On day two we will be looking at Focusing with dreams including Gene Gendlin’s methods. Students will be invited to work with their own dreams in a group exercise.

There will be a combination of theory and practice, with plenty of time for discussion, questions, and Focusing practice.

Level Four is for anyone who has completed the equivalent of Levels 1-3

Elizabeth trained on the MA in Focusing and Experiential Psychotherapy at the University of East Anglia and Paula trained as a focusing teacher with Ann Weiser Cornell;  both of us received a Focusing Trainer certificate from the Focusing Institute in New York. We are both members of the British Focusing Teachers Association and Accredited Counsellors with the BACP.
Paula and Elizabeth are Person-centred counsellors and supervisors. We find that Focusing increases our congruence, even when we are experiencing something very vague and difficult to grasp. It involves listening with a special quality of presence that is empathic and completely accepting.
